Roman Blinds Bristol Child Safety BS EN13120Child Safety Legislation BS EN13120

Due to the recent change in safety regulations every Roman Blind must now comply with the new Child Safety Legislation BS EN13120.  As a Roman Blind maker Calico Blinds are bound to ensure that compliant safety devices are used and that the finished blinds meets the new regulations. These regulations are as follows:

  • The chain in the safety device box must be fitted no less than 150cm from the floor*
  • A 'Blind Cord Stopper Breakaway' device is attached to the bottom rod pocket so that if 6kg is applied the cord will be released
  • All finished Roman Blinds will be labelled with the regulations and have a child safety device attached so each finished Roman Blind will be sent out fully compliant

*With a shorter chain it may take longer to operate your blind.  Later this year following compliant safety testing a 'Chain Safety Breakaway' device will be available allowing you to have a longer chain.  This will be available free of charge.
